Q. What are
the takeaways from the four day workshop?
1. You will
learn about the scope of digital storytelling.
2. You will
learn basic storytelling skills.
3. You will
create a digital story that you can share with others.
4. You will
understand the basic tool sets and processes necessary for creating
a digital story.
Q. You teach on Apple computers,
and I work on a Pentium based computer. Is this a problem?
No. All the tools we use
are cross platform and the finished stories may be played on both Macintosh
and Windows platforms as well as the internet?
Q. I don't really consider
myself to be a storyteller. Should I take the workshop?
All of us are storytellerswhether
it's a brief anecdote you share at the office cooler or an informal
story you share over dinner. We will work with you both before and during
the workshop to help discover, focus and shape your stories.
Q. I am not a computer programmer
or I do not know the programs you use. Is this a problem?
While some level of basic
computing skill is helpful you do not need to be a designer or a programmer.
The workshops are about creating a storynot about mastering a
tool. We will work with you closely to help you with the technical components
and guarantee that you will complete a digital story.
Q. In what formats may I bring
my story materials?
It is always helpful if your
materials are predigitized. If they are, we can accept Zip and CD-ROM
(PC & Mac), Jazz drives, DVD-ROM and external hard drives for Mac.
We can also transfer materials to and from: Beta SP, 3/4", VHS
and DV-CAM. We will provide two scanning stations.
